Here are a few of the Milky Way shots I got in Stonewall, Colorado this past October. All photos were taken with my Canon 5dII and the Canon 24-70f/2.8L. I did take some shots with my Rokinon 14mm, but the results were less than satisfactory.
This is a full 180 degree panorama, going from horizon to horizon. You can see Pleiades in the top right.
This was an experiment. Expose on the milky way, then zoom in at the end of the exposure
I was frustrated by this seemingly random error for an hour when trying out the new HDR and Panorama merging capabilities in Adobe Lightroom CC. If you’re receiving the error ‘An internal error has occurred: Unable to merge the photos’ check your free disk space.
I was combining seven images, each one was an HDR merged within Lightroom CC. To generate the panorama, Lightroom was storing a 7GB file in the local app data cache.
The offending file (on my Windows 7 pc) was C:\Users\keegan morrison\AppData\Local\Temp\cr_sdk_00143671.tmp. I’m still running an old SSD that is only 50G as my c: drive, and with only 3GB of free space, there wasn’t enough room in the %appdata% folder to generate this massive file. Cleaning up some space then running the panorama merge process again resolved the issue. Lightroom will remove these temporary files on exit, but if the process fails (resulting in this error) you might want to manually remove the files and restart the merge process.
In my googling I didn’t see anyone pose a solution to this error, so hopefully this helps other users.
On August 29, 2015 I proposed to a truly amazing woman. Leah has brought much joy in to my life and is the best partner I could possibly imagine. Here is a short sampling of the many photos I took the following weekend.
Had a wonderful time in Lake Gason, NC this past weekend. Saw a few spiders and a wonderful storm system. All photos taken with my Canon 5dII and mpe-65. Timelapse was shot with my Rokinon 14mm.
Check out the timelapse. 2700 frames combined in to 900 HDR shots. Here is a link to the youtube page, check it out in HD.

This species of spider was prevalent around the house.
I was lucky enough to be invited to a friend’s bachelor party in Colorado late this February. We had an amazing time, and I got some wonderful photographs. I thoroughly enjoy scenic photography, particularly time lapses. I didn’t get any worthy video from the trip, but I did get some good shots. Leah and I toured Southern Colorado and took some scenic routes as well, and my shutter was open the whole time.
All photos taken with my Canon 5dII, and either the Canon 24-70f/2.8L or my new Rokinon 14mm.
